The Red Wings (33-15-11) are looking to prevent a possible three game losing streak when they go toe-to-toe with the Sharks at the SAP Center at San Jose.

The Red Wings previously defeated the Los Angeles Kings by the final score 1-0, where Detroit goalie Jonas Gustavsson made 26 saves in a losing effort on February 24.

"I just thought it was a good hockey game. It was tight," Detroit head coach Mike Babcock to reporters.

"We talk lots about trying to start quick. When you play back to back sometimes it takes you a little bit... They're a good team and we're a good team and there wasn't much room out there."

The Sharks (30-23-8) are trying to prevent two consecutive losses when they clash with the Red Wings on Thursday night.

"You want to push toward that second season, and right now we're not there," said Sharks center Joe Pavelski to reporters.

"So there's nothing given to us and we got to go earn it."

Previously, San Jose were defeated by their Pacific foe the Los Angeles Kings by a final score of 2-1 in a shootout, where Sharks defensemen Brent Burns scored the lone goal in a losing effort for his team on February 21.

"This was a little more significant, obviously, because this was our show," said Sharks head coach Todd McLellan to reporters.

"These were our fans...They showed up in droves. I know there were Kings fans here, and there were just plain hockey fans. That's what made tonight so special. But the fact we lost was disappointing. But to be part of it, I wouldn't trade it for anything.''

The game begins at 10:30 pm ET on and can be viewed on TV on the NHL Center ICE network or online through live stream by clicking here.
