The Detroit Red Wings will clash with the Los Angeles Kings on February 24 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The defending Stanley Cup Champion Kings (28-18-12) are trying to extend their impressive winning streak to eight games when they defend their home ice versus the Red Wings at the Staples Center.

Previously, the Kings defeated the San Jose Sharks by a final score of 2-1 on February 21, where Los Angeles right winger Marian Gaborik scored the game winning goal in the final period.

"It's definitely special," said Gaborik to reporters.

"It was my second outdoor game. It's been fun in terms of putting pucks into the net. But it definitely feels good to get the goal. It was a fun game."

Meanwhile, the Red Wings (33-14-11) are looking to prevent a possible two game losing streak when they face the Kings on Tuesday night.

Previously, the Red Wings were defeated by the Anaheim Ducks by a final score of 4-3 in a shootout, where Detroit right winger Jakob Silfverberg scored the game winning goal in the victory on February 23.

"We needed to just keep playing how we played in the first two periods," said Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk to reporters after he had two goals versus the Ducks.

"I think after it was 2-0 we tried to be safe and play back. They started to shoot everything and follow the rebounds."
