'Destiny's Child' Star Michelle Williams Talks About Gospel Song '[When Jesus] Say Yes' Being Played at Gay Clubs [VIDEO]
Former Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams addressed her views on multiple topics including how her new song "[When Jesus] Say Yes" is being played everywhere including some Gay clubs.
"I get all [kinds of] messages saying, 'Girl, they just played 'Say Yes' in the club', and 'Gay Pride'," said Williams to 'The Breakfast Club' radio show on the Power 105.1, "Gay clubs, every club has been playing 'Say Yes' and I'm not mad at that.
The 34-year-old Illinois native further expressed her views regarding the popularity of her Gospel song which also features her ex-Destiny's Child band members Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland.
"We get to hear Jesus' name throughout the whole world through a song. I'm not mad," said Williams.
Williams also revealed her thoughts regarding some critics believing that her new Christian album does not sound like a typical gospel music.
"What is gospel music supposed to sound like? Does it have to have an organ?" said Williams, "I think the message is gospel, not necessarily the sound."
In a previous interview, Williams expressed her views on encouraging people to have a better relationship with God.
"I just want to encourage people - do what God has called you to do no matter how it looks," said Williams on The Blaze TV's 'Freefall' series in May, "[Listen to] the will of God, it might even look contrary to how you're feeling or where you think you're suppose to be going."
The Survivor vocalist also discussed why and how she used her fame to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.
"I kind of started noticing that even with my platform with Destiny's Child my individual calling has something to do with evangelism, but not with the traditional way in a pulpit," said Williams.
"I am to speak the word of God through my music and I even have opportunities, say in theater, or other things that I do individually ... to just be a light."
Williams also gave some inspirational advice to people who want to follow her footsteps and have a career in entertainment.
"I would tell them to really, really, really pray and God will give you the message that he wants you to share and it's not to late," said Williams, "God can turn some things around."
