'Destiny' Rise of Iron News: Bungie Explains Why Game Is Marked As Free, But Only As Trial [TRAILER]
Fans can download Bungie and Activision's "Destiny" for free; however, it is only for a trial.
In line with the aforementioned case, Bungie rationalized the case. In a statement on its official website, the studio said that the original "Destiny" adventure might appear to be free on some digital console marketplaces. The studio explained that while players might download the "Destiny" base game, they would only be granted access to the "Destiny" Trial Mode for free.
Bungie further stressed that players who wished to progress through the original "Destiny" adventure through digital download would be required to purchase "Destiny - The Collection" to gain access to the title's content.
The studio announced the title last week and it includes the base "Destiny" title and its downloadable contents, which covers "The Dark Below," "House of Wolves," "The Raen King," and the forthcoming "Rise of Iron" expansion, as per Game Spot. The title collection costs $60 and can be pre-order on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, barring "Rise of Iron."
"Destiny" is Bungie and Activision's first-person shooting video game and the former's first new console franchise, following the "Halo" series. In the game, players assume the role of Earth's last safe city defenders called the Guardians.
Bungie and Activation's "Destiny: The Collection" and "Rise of Iron" are set to be released on Sept. 20. "Destiny 2" is now in the works and slated for a 2017 release.
