Destiny Game Update; PC Version Coming? Bungie Talks PC Port, No Windows Version Anytime Soon
Game developer Bungie finally put an end to the speculation about the launch of 'Destiny' on the Microsoft PC platform.
Rumors sparked after 'Destiny' publisher and Activision CEO Erik Hirshberg himself stated that putting 'Destiny' on the PC is a "good idea" and the company was reportedly talking about it.
"It is [a good fit], and it's something we're talking about and looking at very carefully, and obviously it makes a lot of sense with the genre and the type of game it is," Hirshberg stated in an interview with Polygon.
"You know, developing on PC is a different animal than developing for consoles and so we just want to make sure that we're putting one foot in front of the other and getting it right, and that it's of the highest possible quality. But obviously I see the same things about the natural fit," Hirhsberg added.
Hirshberg also stated that making 'Destiny' available on PC would be complicated, as they are allegedly dealing with "complexities in developing for so many platforms."
On a similar note, several people from Bungie have attested that developing a PC version of the game is not as easy as it looks.
"I wish it was that simple. It's pretty complicated. That doesn't mean that it can't happen in the future, it just means it won't happen right now," Lars Bakken, Bungie studio's lead designer said in an interview with Eurogamer.
"We're doing it all internally ourselves. That's a huge endeavor," Bakken went on to explain, "So when I'm playtesting and I'm trying to play PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3, that's a lot of work. Adding another thing on there is just crazy. It's crazy to think of right now," added Bakken.
Senior Writer Eric Osborne also said that taking on more platforms means more work that will take a toll on the quality of the already released versions.
Although Osborne said that they are "looking forward to talking more about that kind of stuff in the future."
As of the moment, the future looks bleak for a PC version of 'Destiny' releasing anytime soon.
