'Destiny' DLC Update: New Event-Based Content, 'Sparrow Racing League,' More

Fans of the game's expansion "Destiny: The Taken King" are sure to be excited about the latest downloadable content (DLC) update from game developer Bungie. The shooter will be outfitted with a new content, such as the "Sparrow Racing League."

This will provide new gaming experience for the players. This is an event-based DLC that will be an alternative to the massive expansion packs that were previously planned. Developer Bungie and the "Destiny" team recently confirmed the decision to forego the expansion packs.

In an interview with Senior Designer Derek Carroll, Eurogamer was told some of the details about the new content that is currently being developed.

Carroll said that the company has decided to focus on event-based model. This will include the "Festival of the Lost" and the "Sparrow Racing League" for the winter event.

Meanwhile, smaller weekend events will include "Iron Banner" and "Trials of Osiris." This approach will be a lot simpler and less costly compared to the DLC packs.

Foregoing the large but monolithic DLC-packs, and focusing on the event-based content, will allow all those who own the "Taken King" expansion to have access to the new contents.

It will mean a wider audience for the game updates. For instance, the previous "Festival of the Lost" and the very recent "Sparrow Racing League" were made available to all payers.

The new event-based DLC system is also advantageous for the players in terms of savings. They do not have to spend a fortune on large packs.

According to a recent official statement from the developer, the latest update with "Sparrow Racing League" will run the event in the "Tower" until December 29, 2015.
