‘Destiny 2' Release News: Bungie Is Preparing For New Sequel, Activision Head Says

Bungie is in full swing working on its upcoming title "Destiny 2," according to reports.

According to Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg, the studio is currently preparing for the game. In an interview with IGN during Activision's second quarter earnings call and inventory inquiry, Hirshberg said that a majority of the team at Bungie was actually focused entirely on creating "Destiny 2." This means the company is for sure focusing on the upcoming game and that a release is inevitable.

As per the publication, Hirshberg did not give exact details on what exactly the studio was working on for the title; however, the Activision CEO confirmed that the sequel to "Destiny" was scheduled for a 2017 release, echoing the studio's statement in 2015.

"Destiny 2" is likely to be what the first title was expected to be, according to Cinema Blend. As per the publication, "Destiny's" primary issue was that it had been hacked up into smaller pieces to run smoothly on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. As a result, the game featured small environments and limited opponents, which made it less excellent than what had been originally aimed for.

Before the release of "Destiny 2," however, players are set to embark on a new "Destiny" journey with "Rise of Iron." As the fourth expansion of "Destiny," the title centers on the fallen enemy race, who managed to penetrate the Wall encircling Earth's last safe city.

"Destiny: Rise of Iron" is set to be released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Sept. 20.
