'Destiny 2' Release Date Rumors, News Update: Sequel To Serve As Blank Slate For Next Installments?

The release date for "Destiny 2" has not been announced yet although most websites are claiming that it's going to be next year. Meanwhile, rumors are going around about the sequel being developed like a blank canvas so that succeeding installments are easier to make.

According to the NeoGAF forum, the sequel is "being overhauled" just for this purpose. One moderator claimed that more play spaces are going to be introduced to include outposts, systems, activities and towns into accessible areas.

The main purpose is to make it easier for players to decide on activities, without necessarily exiting the game. For now, however, the developer is on the fence whether to support the old content from the original "Destiny" into the sequel, or there's also the possibility that the developer will just start over on "Destiny 2."

The community-sharing website, however, did not share any news on the "Destiny 2" release date.

For the sequel, Activision has revealed the plot that can be expected in "Destiny 2." For instance, the "Rise of Iron" will be expanded on in the storyline. The phrase used was it's going to be "far larger" than anybody could conceive.

"Activision Publishing, along with its partners at Bungie, expects to bring a large new expansion to Destiny in 2016 and to release a full game sequel in 2017," the statement from the developer said.

Watch out for more news and rumors, particularly on the "Destiny 2" release date, which will be published here when they come along.
