'Destiny 2' Release Date News, Rumors: Bungie’s ‘Destiny’ Sequel Going Through Reboots Process, Set For 2017 Release?

In line with Bungie's "Destiny 2," it appears that fans are set to see the video game sequel have yet to wait until next year.

Bungie reboots "Destiny 2," Kotaku has learned. According to the publication, it is the reason why the video game's release date was moved from 2016 to 2017. It is revealed that instead of "Destiny 2," its slot will be taken by "Destiny: Rise of Iron," the next expansion of the game. At the moment, it is vague how the upcoming expansion is set to be linked to "Destiny's" ordinary Iron Banner PVP event.

"Destiny: Rise of Iron" is helmed by "The Taken King" director Luke Smith, following a Bungie staff reorganization, as per the publication. With the said expansion upcoming in September, there is no clarity on when Bungie will pin the "Destiny 2's" release date between 2016 and the fall of 2017.

Along from being rebooted, the integrity of the game storyline could be another reason why "Destiny 2's" release date has been delayed. According to The Bit Bag, Bungie reconditioned the game story arc into the development process, resulting to a fragmented story and narrative.

The publication added that the gaming company also decided to remove the voice acting work done by "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage, who played the role of the player's ghost companion in the game "the Taken King." This means that the Bungie has to reconstruct things in order to make a more intact version of the game sequel.

Overall, "Destiny: Rise of Iron" is assumed to be released in September while "Destiny 2" is expected to be released in 2017.
