'Destiny 2' News & Update: Game Might Be Largest Expansion Or Complete Start Over?
Bungie's "Destiny 2" might be facing two possible paths, as an expansion or as start over.
According to Forbes, "Destiny 2" might not be treated like a sequel, but the biggest expansion of the game to date. As per the publication, players may ask for more than being a large expansion, as most of the game's sequels are bigger than their predecessors.
Being a large expansion suggests that players will be able to keep their characters and engage with the same realm, just with additional content. In other words, the forthcoming game could be seen as a continuation of Bungie's first game. While it is possible, it might be a different situation for "Destiny 2."
Another path of "Destiny 2" is a whole new game, which does not continue the player's progress, as well as items from the previous "Destiny" games. A case in point if "Mass Effect," in which players can access their old save file and obtain the details on their character's profile and appearance.
According to game enthusiast Paul Tassi, as cited by Forbes, it was best to do both paths at the same time. He said that in a perfect world, a sequel would let a player keep his characters and gear from "Destiny 1."
For Tassi, the veteran characters could still be around and the new story content could be scaled for their level and it would be a very different experience playing through it with a full "Rise of Iron-era" kit that it would be starting a brand new Vlakyrie Guardian.
Meanwhile, "Destiny's" forthcoming game is "Rise of Iron." In a statement, as cited by Game Rant, Bungie lead designer Gavin Irby said that the storyline involving the raid centered on the Iron Lords and the SIVA, the nanotech virus, and the design team who was responsible for the production of the raid was now focused on creating the theme, which would have an effect on everything in visibility.
"Destiny 2" is assumed to be released in 2017 while "Destiny: Rise of Iron" is set to come out on Sept. 20.
