'Deadpool' Casting News: Morena Baccarin Confirms Role as Vanessa Carlysle - Copycat

More vital news for fans has been confirmed for Fox's upcoming 'Deadpool' movie in regards to its cast. Morena Baccarin was recently announced to be playing a "female lead" in the movie, but according to her recent tweet the 'Gotham' actress will be playing Vanessa Carlysle, more commonly known as Copycat in the comics.

Vanessa is Wade Wilson's shapeshifting love interest in 'Deadpool' lore and is initially depicted as a prostitute in Boston with blue skin. She becomes involved with the main character before the Weapon X program.

"Created by Fabian Nicieza and Joe Madureira, Copycat made her comic book debut in the same issue as Deadpool, 'New Mutants' #98, although fans didn't know it at the time. The shapeshifting former love of Deadpool was secretly infiltrating X-Force disguised as Domino with a mission to kill the mutant team's leader, Cable. It wasn't until several years later, during Marvel's 'Flashback Month', that Copycat's full origin story was revealed in the pages of "Deadpool" #-1," writes Coming Soon.

Actor T.J. Miller has recently also confirmed his role in the film as Weasel, along with Gina Carano as Angel Dust.

'Deadpool' is currently in production and will debut in theaters on February 12th, 2016.
