'Deadpool' Movie Cast News: Former MMA Fighter Gina Carano to Play X-Men Character Angel Dust

Some very interesting news has been released about the casting in the highly anticipated 'Deadpool' movie involving former MMA athlete Gina Carano.

The fighter turned actor will star opposite of Ryan Reynolds as the X-Men mutant character Angel Dust.

Carano has recently been featured in films such as 'Haywire' and 'Fast and Furious 6' serving up some serious fight scenes, so the casting is believed to be well placed in the highly animated 'Deadpool' film.

"The back-to-back shoots continue Carano's nonstop movie momentum. She recently wrapped production on Bus 657 opposite Robert DeNiro, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kate Bosworth as well as Kickboxer, the reboot of the early 1990s action franchise that also stars Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista," writes THR.

Here's Marvel's words on the character:

"The young woman known only as Angel Dust is a member of the small group of outcast mutants living under the streets of Chicago known as the Morlocks. These Morlocks made a pact to stay together to help each other fulfill one last 'wish' left over from their lives on the surface."

"In Angel Dust's case, her parents were frantic as to the whereabouts of their daughter. Seeking to provide them with some form of closure, the Morlocks helped Angel Dust reach her parents' house where she revealed to them that she was a mutant. Fearing the worst, Angel Dust was stunned to find her parents were more accepting than she gave them credit for. However, she couldn't stay with them, thanks to the threat of the giant mutant-hunting robotic Sentinels that loomed over all Morlocks."

It has also been reported that Angel Dust will not be the only X-Men original character featured in the Marvel movie. Colossus will also make an appearance however it isn't confirmed if Daniel Cudmore, the actor who most recently portrayed the character, will be cast for this project.
