'Deadpool' Cast News: Female Lead Found in 'Homeland' Actress Morena Baccarin
The verdict on what actress will star opposite of Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming 'Deadpool' movie has finally been given by producers.
Morena Baccarin has been cast for the leading lady, although it is unsure to what character she will be portraying. She has however been confirmed to be Deadpool's love interest.
"Baccarin was one of a handful of actresses shortlisted for the role of Reynolds' character's love interest. The character grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face," writes The Hollywood Reporter.
Deadpool, being the man with the scarred face was described as, "an assassin who undergoes a procedure to cure his cancer that ends up leaving him twisted and scarred but also imbued with superpowers," by The Hollywood Reporter.
Among the list of actresses, there was Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), Crystal Reed (Teen Wolf), Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Red Band Society), Sarah Greene (Vikings), and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow) that were all considered.
It is speculated that Baccarin could end up playing the character Copycat, as it was revealed the character would appear in the movie in a previous script.
Baccarin has made quite the name for her in various television series such as 'Homeland', and the most recent role as Leslie Thompkins in 'Gotham'.
Actors T.J. Miller and Gina Carano have already been connected to the project. The movie is slated for release in February, 2016.
