'Deadpool 2' Release Date: ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Producer Confirms Sequel, ‘Gambit’ To Film In 2017?
In line with Tim Miller's "Deadpool 2," it is revealed that the Marvel Comics film sequel is set to commence its production next year.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" producer Simon Kinberg revealed information on Marvel Studio's upcoming films. In his statement at "That Hashtag Show," Kinberg said that they were shooting James Mangold's "Wolverine" movie at the moment for the first thing and they would start filming "Deadpool 2" at the start of 2017.
Kinberg also said that he would also start writing the next of the mainline "X-Men" movies, following Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" last May.
As per Collider, "Deadpool 2" is now in the works, with Miller at the helm of the film and Rhette Reese and Paul Wernck set to pen the script. Also, Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise his role as the titular character, who is also known as Merc with the Mouth.
Along with "Deadpool 2" as one of Marvel's upcoming films, Kinberg also revealed that they had a great script for "Gambit" an they hoped to shoot the film at the start of spring in 2017.
"Gambit" has been in progress for the last two years, with director Rupert Wyatt set to helm the film and "Magic Mike" star Channing Tatum playing the lead role. However, Wyatt dropped the film, allowing "Edge of Tomorrow" director Doug Liman take over the director's seat. The film has reportedly not commenced production for "Magic Mike" screenwriter Reid Carolin to develop the script.
"Deadpool 2" is slated to hit theaters in 2018 while "Wolverine 3" premieres in 2017. Additional details on "Gambit" and "X-Men: The New Mutants" are yet to be revealed.
