‘Deadpool 2' Release Date, News: Movie Sequel Starts Filming In 2017

Following the success of Tim Miller's Marvel Comics film "Deadpool," it is revealed that its film sequel is set to commence its production next year.

"Deadpool 2" is revealed to start filming next year, Collider has learned. In his interview with the publication at the Saturn Awards, "Deadpool" producer Simon Kinberg said that screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese were working on the script and they hoped to have it very soon. For Kinberg, he hoped to shoot the film some time at the beginning of next year.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Deadpool" actor Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise his role as Wade Wilson/ Deadpool, also known as the Merc with the Mouth. Kinberg is set to producer the film while Miller is set to helm the film.

"Deadpool 2" could feature the titular soldier-turned-mercenary teaming up with a certain group like the X-Force, as per Cinema Blend. It is assumed to be a potential story arc for the film sequel, as fans have seen Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus in the first film. In addition, the X-Force is headed by Cyclops' son Cable, who is also expected to be part of the sequel. However, the actor who is set to play the mutant is yet to revealed by the studio.

Released on Feb. 12, Miller's "Deadpool" grossed more than $778 million worldwide, with more that $363 million in the United States and more than $415 million from other countries, as per Box Office Mojo. Aside from Reynolds, the film starred Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, TJ Miller, and Ed Skrein.

For the time being, exact details on the release date for "Deadpool 2" are yet to be unveiled.
