‘Deadliest Catch’ Season 12 Episode 1 Premiere Date, Spoilers: Rookies Battle Against Veterans?
After a period of hiatus, the first episode of the 12th season of "Deadliest Catch" is set to premiere tonight (March 29) with the introduction of newcomers.
The return of the 16-time Emmy award-winning series will feature the young captains showing off their flair for fishing in one of the most daring fishing locations in the world. Spoilers for the episode show that the newcomers are going to compete against the experienced captains in the first episode by ensnaring hundreds of kilograms of crabs in the wild Bering Sea.
The new boat in this season, Brenna A, will be made up of an all-rookie crew and will be commanded by the 23-year-old captain Sean Dwyer. Although fishing all his life, Dwyer has never skippered a boat. Also, Brenna A has never succeeded in fishing crabs in eight years, so the task is going to be one heck of a challenge for the young captain.
According to Capt. Sig Hansen, the rookies this season don't seem as rattled as they should be.
"When I look around at the new guys, there is a lot of opportunity but not a lot of promise. I don't see as much fear as I would have hoped to see. They don't seem fearful because in their mind there is nothing to fear. At sea, you find out what a guy is made out of. Not everyone makes the cut," he said.
Trailer for the upcoming episode also reveals that Jake Anderson is going to take charge of the Saga, previously captained by Elliott Neese, while Josh Harris will be in command of the Cornelia Marie.
The challenge of this season does not only lie on the battle between the veterans and the rookies, but also the elusiveness of the creatures they are supposed to catch.
Titled "Ticking Bomb," the first episode of "Deadliest Catch" season 12 premieres on March 29 on Discovery Channel.
