New Gospel Artist Darnell Moore Gives God His Due With New Single, "It Belongs To You"
Few Gospel artists can say they received their gift to play the piano by oil being poured over their hands. Darnell Moore has that testimony. Not only has the singer and songwriter been anointed to play, but he's been called to usher God's people into His presence. A modern-day writer of psalms, Darnell Moore has shared the stage with some of Gospel music's finest including Daryl Coley, Earnest Pugh, Kim Burrell and Tye Tribbett. Now the Minister of Music of Greater Refuge Ministries of Washington, D.C. has dropped his debut single, a bouncy and energetic praise song entitled "It Belongs To You". The new track is the first song from the forthcoming project by the worship leader called Accept My Praise, scheduled to release nationally on Tuesday, July 9, 2013.
Penned by Darnell, "It Belongs To You" is the perfect opener for Sunday morning service. Declaring the awesomeness of God, the sing-along reminds the listener of the amazing characteristics of God. The up-tempo track, featuring the talents of Moore's group, Company, puts the honor right where it belongs. The song has already hit the BDS charts peaking at #62 so far.
A vocalist and producer as well, Darnell Moore has already been blessed to experience success in the Gospel music industry. His choir, Greater Refuge Ministries Choir, released their debut CD, Bless The Lord: Live and the lead single, "Rejoice", penned by Moore, soared up the Gospel charts to #47. The choir even netted a 2012 Gospel Blue MIC Award for Choir of the Year as well as a 2011 Excellence In Christian Music Award (ECMA). Greater Refuge Ministries is not only Moore's home church, but it's also the family church. His church's Founding and Senior Pastor is none other than Darnell's father, Bishop Devaughan Moore.
Growing up, Darnell was always drawn to music. "I remember when I was little, I was interested in playing the drums," recounts Darnell. "But my father said that I had to be saved first. So I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior". Naturally gifted as a drummer, he never had a desire to play the piano, but a relative who was an Evangelist came to the area for a revival. Not only did that day change his ability to play the piano, but it changed his desire as well. "I remember my Aunt pouring oil on my hands," recalls Darnell, "and something happened to me that day." Shortly after, he ran into a homeless man who taught him the ins and outs of the keyboard solidifying his knowledge of the instrument.
It's more than musical talent that makes Darnell pursue music ministry. His relationship with God is what drives him to lead worship. Salvation may have started as a mandate from his father, but Darnell is a true worshipper now. It's at the heart of all he does. "For me, it's not so much about getting the message to people; it's more about getting the message to God." For more information on Darnell Moore, log on to www.DarnellMooreMusic.com.
