'Daredevil' Spoilers, News: Showrunner Talks about the Evolution of Daredevil's Costume

Marvel's 'Daredevil' is steadily making its way to Netflix and throughout all the excitement to see the Hell's Kitchen hero adapted into a television series, there's been some dissatisfaction from some of the fans about his costume.

In the teasers, trailers, and photos from the show, Matt Murdock has not been seen once in his trademark red suit that Daredevil fans are mostly familiar with.

It's been revealed that the crude black costume the character is in is only the protagonist's "prototype" costume and can be seen being worn by the hero in Frank Miller's "The Man Without Fear" comics.

In an interview with Comics Continuum, showrunner Steven DeKnight takes a moment to address the evolution of Daredevil's costume in the Netflix series. He states:

"He always wore a black mask that was tied in the back. We went through a lot of different versions and did a lot of R&D before settling on something. If you watch very closely, you'll see the outfit evolve subtly into what we call the black ninja suit. The mask changes. He starts wearing protective pads. Eventually it morphs into the classic suit, because he wouldn't be Daredevil without it. Getting there is part of the fun. The idea was to back the story up to the point before Matt is Daredevil. Then we could take him to a place where some version of the red suit works in a grounded world. The solution is very exciting and makes complete sense."

Hopefully this explanation appeases a lot of the fans as it does confirm that we will at one point see the iconic costume.

All 13 episodes of 'Daredevil' drop on April 10th via Netflix.
