'Daredevil' Season 2 Cast News: John Bernthal Cast as The Punisher in Netflix Series
Marvel and Netflix are ready to go on the second season of Daredevil. They are preparing for the new season by casting John Bernthal as the The Punisher.
The Punisher, also known as Frank Castle from the comics is a vigilante who is not much better than the mobsters that he targets in order to avenge the murder of his family.
His killing spree in Hell's Kitchen in New York City will place him head to head with our favorite blind lawyer and super hero, who is played by Charlie Cox.
The feud between these two will give the new showrunners, Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, plenty of material to work with for the thirteen episodes requested for the second season of the show.
The character, the Punisher, will boost Daredevil's status among comic geek circles, as he is one of the most prominent villains.
Bernthal has been seen before in The Walking Dead, in which he made it through two seasons before meeting his destiny as a zombie.
He also had roles in the World War II miniseries, The Pacific and last year's Fury. Marvel's head of television, Jeph Loeb is pleased with the casting of Bernthal as The Punisher.
"Jon Bernthal brings and unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences," said Loeb in a statement.
"Castle's appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same".
Season two of Daredevil is expected to premiere on Netflix next year.
