'Daredevil' Rumors, Cast News: Jason Statham to Play Bullseye Villain?
Recent rumors suggest that the next season of Marvel's 'Daredevil' plans to heat things up in a major way with the introduction of the infamous Bullseye character. Along with this, it has recently been reported that Marvel has taken interest in 'Furious 7' actor Jason Statham for the villain role.
Latino-Review reports this news from a source close to production, however Marvel reps haven't yet confirmed this.
"This isn't Statham's first dance with Daredevil. Just before the rights for the character reverted back to Marvel, he was said to be in talks to appear in a cinematic reboot that 20th Century Fox was trying to get off the ground," writes Latino-Review.
Statham's background in adrenaline filled action roles would make him a perfect shoe in for the role, but a recent statement the actor had on superhero films, specifically Marvel, leads spectators to believe that he has no interest in participating in the franchise.
In an interview with i400calci, Statham states:
"A lot of the modern sort of action movies I see, you know, Marvel comic sort of things, I just think, any guy can do it. I have no ambition. I mean, I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and then put her in a greenscreen, and then have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it. I mean, they're relying on stunt doubles, and greenscreen, and $200 million budget, it's all CGI-created. So to me, that is not authentic. I'm inspired by old, real star guys that can really do it."
'Daredevil' season two plans to go into production this fall.
