'Daredevil' New Cast News: Jon Bernthal to Portray The Punisher in Season 2

To add on to the already high anticipation of the second season of Marvel's 'Daredevil' series, The Punisher has now been confirmed to appear, along with the fact that actor Jon Bernthal will be portraying the titular character.

"Bernthal will portray The Punisher, one of Marvel's most popular characters. He is a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City's Hell's Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results," writes Marvel.

Bernthal has had some very prominent roles in hardened and violent roles, such as the role he held in 'The Walking Dead' and the critically acclaimed WWII film 'Fury.'

Marvel's Head of Television released a statement claiming that the Punisher's character will add some dramatic changes.

"Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences," he said. "Castle's appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same."

This statement blurs the character's role as a hero or villain in the second season, which accurately describes the character in his entirety.

A Punisher solo film has also been rumored recently, and while there hasn't been word on when that'll happen, it is now very much possible since the character has been casted.

The MCU and television world has been confirmed to be linked, making Bernthal's appearance in upcoming Marvel films very much possible.

'Daredevil' season 2 plans to arrive early next year.
