'Daredevil' Cast News: Elodie Yung Tapped to Play Elektra in Season 2
It appears that the 'Daredevil' showrunners have finally locked down the actress to play the titular character Elektra.
'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' actress Elodie Yung was awarded the highly coveted role and will make her debut as the character in the upcoming second season of the show.
It was unsure when the show was prepared to introduce the character into the show, as like Daredevil, her identity was slightly tarnished by the solo spin-off film that was released a number of years ago.
Judging by how the first season handled the Matt Murdock character, its safe to believe that the series will handle the Elektra character with just as much care.
"After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra's impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity," said Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. "Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for," writes Marvel.
This makes the second major character that the show plans to introduce into the next season. About a month ago actor Jon Bernthal was announced to portray the role of Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.
'Daredevil' plans to return to Netflix in early 2016.
"Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the Super Hero "Daredevil" in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City. "Marvel's Daredevil" stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Jon Bernthal, and Rosario Dawson," writes Marvel.
