'Dancing with the Stars' Season 21 Cast News, Rumors: NBA Star Anthony Davis to Compete on DWTS?
After Caitlyn Jenner, New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis has turned down the offer to be a contestant on 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 21. In fact, ABC was quite certain that the NBA star would be participating in the 2015 edition of the celebrity dance reality show, but Davis rejected the offer on the pretext that his performance on the dance floor is not as good as his on the basketball court.
Christian Today reports that recently Davis told TMZ, "Well, I've seen a couple players on Dancing with the Stars - you know, just athletes not even NBA players - and I actually got asked to do it, but I can't dance," adding, "I didn't want to embarrass myself [...] but sometimes I do something just to have fun."
Having said this, it appears that Davis is doing what he is best at - hardcore hoops and a jersey instead of an elegant twirl and a leotard. According to Uproxx, Davis will change his mind soon as the website states that 'Dancing with the Stars' would certainly not put him on the dance floor without preparing him.
Then again, Carter Matt reports that apart from Davis' unwillingness to join the show, even if the NBA star player does change his mind, his schedule will not allow him to participate in the show. The publication further states that the show films in the months that clash with the NBA season. Hence, it is more important for Davis to be on the basketball court during this period.
Carter Matt goes on to add that if the producers of 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 21 really wants Davis to grace their stage, they would be required to wait for 15 years or more - when the basketball star is already retired. It is worth noting that NBA players who joined the contest previously were not playing during the time they participated.
'Dancing with the Stars' Season 21 premieres on ABC on Sept. 14.
