‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 20 News: Karina Smirnoff, Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke Are Not Returning

As 'Dancing with the Stars,' the hit reality dancing TV show, advances in its 20th season on ABC, the producers have revealed the cast and promised the fans that the new season will be more interesting than ever. On that note, 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 20 will shift from the usual dynamics of the show.

According to Christian Today, the fact that 37-year-old Karina Smirnoff will not be returning to the show for this season has shocked most fans. Smirnoff explained on her Instagram account last Tuesday that after being with the show for 16 long years, she is now ready to step up to another chapter of her life.

The "DWTS' star stated, "Many of you have been asking if I will be back for season 20 of 'DWTS' and I wanted all of my incredible family to hear it directly from me. After a lot of thought and prayer, I've decided to focus my energies on some other exciting endeavors including adding author to my resume."

Smirnoff's statement continues to read, "I have absolutely loved dancing for all of you for all these years and feel blessed to have been given a platform to put my passion for dance, choreography and creativity on display.'DWTS' has been a huge part of my life for the last 10 years and I will always have a special place in my heart for it."

Sorry to say that Smirnoff is not the only dancer who give the show a skip this season. For instance, Derek Hough will also not be returning to 'DWTS' this season, as he is venturing into theater with a show at Radio City Music Hall. At the same time, Even Cheryl Burke will not be seen in 'DWTS' Season 20, as she is ready to join the cast of a new series on NBC.

Talking to the People Magazine recently, Burke explained how difficult, but vital it was for him to make this decision. She said, "I never thought I'd be able to walk away. But after a decade of something, it's time for me to move on and try something different, to be challenged, to feel inspired."

According to the official list published on Us Weekly, Julianne Hough who secured her seat as a judge in "DWTS' Season 19 will be returning. Other who will be seen in the upcoming show includes Mark Ballas, Kym Johnson, Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Artem Chigvintsev, Val Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Allison Holker, Peta Murgatroyd and Emma Slater.
