'Dancing With The Stars' Season 20 Cast News: Derek Hough Leaving Series
Derek Hough is leaving 'Dancing with the Stars' to play the male lead in the 'New York Spring Spectacular' at Radio City Music Hall. Although this is great news for Derek, this is horrible news for 'Dancing With the Stars', who's 20th Season is right around the corner.
Nevertheless, fans can rejoice as the dancing king stars opposite Laura Benanti in a seven-week extravaganza.
"I am ecstatic that I'll able to extend my passion for performing to the Great Stage of Radio City Music Hall in New York Spring Spectacular," Hough stated."Performing at Radio City Music Hall in a show that celebrates everything that is beloved about New York City is a dream."
The show will also feature the Rockettes, Whoopi Goldberg, and other celebrity cameos.
This isn't the first time that 'Dancing with the Stars' dancer Hough has had to sit out a season but he has become a common name on the series and a great part of the show's success. Hough has won the series five times since he joined in its fifth season.
Along with Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke has left the 20thseason to star in a new NBC series, and Judge Len Goodman will leave his season after the 20th season.
"Dancing with the Stars-next year is their 10th year, it's the 20th series of the show. So I think that's a nice place to stop," Goodman said.
If Hough is successful in his shows, will he stop with 'Dancing with the Stars'? Hopefully not!
