Fan favorite Derek Hough may possibly quit ABC's 'Dancing With The Stars' Season 20, as he has sustained a toe injury during a Monday night practice session.

Quoting Mark Ballas, Derek's co-competition on 'Dancing With The Stars' 2015, IB Times reports that soon after the injury, the star dancer remarked, "It sucks. It's unfortunate." Ballas told E! News that Derek broke a toe; sprained an ankle and also endured a ligament damage while rehearsing with Maria Menounos for the 10-year anniversary special of 'Dancing With The Stars.'

Mark further said, "Hopefully he's going to be OK. The MRI results will come in [today] probably and we'll know more, but we're just praying that everything's OK."

Even as Ballas is keeping his fingers crossed for his buddy, pro dancer Sharna Burgess is apparently sending out good vibes to Derek's partner and an Olympic gold medalist, Nastia Liukin.

Burgess told E! News on Tuesday night, "Nastia, my heart goes out to her," adding, "And for her to now have to change pros, it's like changing a language, changing a connection and changing trust. It's really difficult. She's incredibly talented, I know she will handle it beautifully, but it's not fun."

Fortunately for Nastia Liukin, she has had to switch partners on earlier occasions too. Owing to her as well as Derek's hectic schedules, she takes her classes at New York University, while Derek is performing in Radio City Music Hall's "New York Spring Spectacular." In fact, Nastia often practices with troupe member Henry Byalikov.

Talking about her substitute partner on 'DWTS,' Nastia said, "He's great." At the same time, she added, "But it's definitely different than dancing with Derek."

While fans are hoping that Derek's MRI will permit him to continue in the 2015 competition, they are also keen to see what would be the reaction of the judges about Nastia dancing with a new partner. In fact, judge Julianne Hough criticized the performance by her brother and Nastia on last Monday night's show.

"I feel like there's some disconnect in your bodies," Hough said after the duo's Week 6 tango. "Like Derek was smooth and you were a bit bumpy. I felt like you didn't connect together as a couple," the judge commented

'Dancing With the Stars' airs every Monday at 8:00 pm EDT on ABC.
