‘Dancing With The Stars’ 2015 Latest News: Show Returns to Original Format, Two Episodes Every Week
Fans of 'Dancing With The Stars,' the long-running reality show on ABC, will be happy to know that the dance show is returning to its original schedule of airing two episodes every week, instead of one, from the second half of Season 20.
Initially, 'DWTS' was aired twice a week, but during Season 17 ABC tried to concentrate the popular dance series by limiting it to one episode a week. IB Times quotes ABC executive director Paul Lee telling reporters that this was done with a view "focus" as well as "build a sense of occasion."
However, fans are lucky that the executives at ABC have changed their mind and once again 'DWTS' will be back to its original format - two shows every week. In the new format, Mondays will show the participants' performances, while eliminations will be on Tuesdays. The new format will come into effect during Week 8 starting with Tuesday night's double elimination on May 5. In addition to eliminating two couples in the upcoming installment, the competition will be thinned down to the final four.
The theme for next Monday night, May 5, will be 'America's Choice Night.' The remaining six couples will perform routines to the tunes and styles chosen selected by the fans. In addition, audiences will also have a say regarding what the celebrities as well as their professional partners will wear during their performances, the set designs and visual effects. According to ABC, all that the viewers will be required to do to be heard is just sound off their views on Twitter, Facebook and/ or Instagram.
Moreover, being the 10-year anniversary season, fans should be ready for 'DWTS' to go all out for Week 8. After the next episode titled 'America's Choice,' each couple will be required to entertain the judges as well as the crowd once again with a second dance, wherein the couple will be accompanied with an eliminated pro or member of the troupe. According to the report, the trio styles will comprise the Jive, Samba, Salsa and our personal favorite, the Paso Doble.
However, the double elimination on Tuesday may be taxing on fans and, hence, ABC decided to lighten their mood by booking two singing sensations. E! News revealed that Josh Groban and Carly Rae Jepsen will belt out a tune during the nail-bitter of an episode. While Groban will sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," Jepsen will perform her new hit single "I Really Like You." In addition, 'Dance Moms' star Maddie Ziegler will also perform on the show on Tuesday night.
'Dancing with the Stars' will now air on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm EDT on ABC.
