'Dance Moms' Season 7 News & Update: Producers Will Create Kids' Cooking Competition Show?

FYI has given its greenlight to "Stove Tots," the new original series that will showcase the culinary skills of wunderkinds. Produced by the producers of the hit franchise "Dance Moms," the series promises "a first-hand look at the cut-throat world of junior culinary competitions," according to the network's official release.

Production of the show begins in 2017.

Composed of 13 hour-long episodes, "Steve Tots" will follow the new generation of cooking masters as they compete in cook-offs across the United States. Each episode of the show will feature a unique group of young cooks and their parents as they get their recipes ready, find their inspirations and deal with the pressures of the show.

The show leads up to an ultimate competition day, where three culinary wunderkinds will compete in a two-round elimination tournament. Viewers of the show will also have the opportunity to get to know the contestants better as the show features the background of each junior chef, how they learned to cook, ways they prepared for the competition and why they are pursuing the culinary path give their young age.

"This series will showcase up-and-coming young chefs, as well as their devoted and sometimes overly supportive parents, as they cut their teeth in high skates cook-offs," said FYI's EVP of Programming and Development Gena McCarthy.

She added that unlike other cooking shows, "Stove Tots" will see docu-style and competition formats converge.

The show will be produced by Collins Ave. for FYI. It will premiere sometime in 2017.
