'Dance Moms' Recap, Spoilers: Moms Come To Blows During Competition In Arizona
The recent episode of "Dance Moms" saw the moms come to blows during the competition in Arizona.
In "Dance Moms" season 6, episode 26, Abby Lee Miller split her time with the elite junior and mini team and her decision caused a "mommy meltdown."
The commotion began with Abby making an announcement that she was placing the mini and elite dancers on the same pyramid. The announcement initially caused drama between the teams, but the tension grew even stronger when Abby gifted her younger performers a lyrical dance as a tribute to her late mother. On the other hand, her long-time students were given a comical number where they would play senior citizens. This upset their mothers.
Shortly after the announcement, the elite moms confronted Abby in the studio and told her that their daughters would not complete the routine. Kalani Hilliker's mother, Kira Girard, also said she was not comfortable seeing her daughter return to her home state to compete in an "unwinnable" number.
The elite junior team ended up choreographing their own last-minute number after the mini moms accused the elite moms that they had pulled their group's number after being intimidated by their lyrical piece. The elite junior team sought the help of Gianna Martello in their choreography.
During the competition, the mini moms said they could feel the tension between the two groups. The minis and their moms went inside the elite team's dressing room ahead of their competing duets, but they did not get any response.
Shortly after their arrival, Kalani and Brynn Rumfallo competed in their snake-inspired number, while Nia Sioux and Kendall Vertes rehearsed their number in the background.
After the performance of the duets, the mini moms confronted the elite moms backstage, with newcomer Stacey Ketchman leading the group. She accused the elite girls of being rude to her daughter Lilliana after years of being her idol. After hearing their accusations, Jill Vertes and Kira stormed away to their dressing room. The mini moms followed.
Kira told Stacey that she was destroying her medical practice with her actions on the show. Kira then pushed Stacey and Tiffanie Oladie to the side so they could exit the premises. Kerri Evans defended her fellow dance moms by telling her that she's a role model and should act as such.
At the awarding ceremony, Abby's two duets emerged second and third, while the mini team placing first. The elite team also took home the first place prize in their division.
In the dressing room after the ceremony, Jill said the new group simple wanted fame, while Holly Frazier told Abby that the new team had made disparaging remarks about their children. Agreeing to this, Kira told Abby she gave the minis power by spending so much time on their group dance.
Towards the end of the episode, the elite moms asked Abby if their daughters' characters had been criticized by visitors before. Abby said no. Then she faced the cameras and said it was clear to her that the moms were giving her an ultimatum, and that they should be careful.
"Dance Moms" season 6 airs Tuesdays, 9:00 P.M. on Lifetime.
