Dallas Mavericks NBA 2015 News: Down 0-2, Mavs Lose Parsons and Possibly Rondo

Shortly after Game 2 of their series against the Houston Rockets, a report came out that Dallas Mavericks forward Chandler Parsons won't be able to play for the rest of the first round due to pain in his right knee, which forced him to miss the last six games of the season, and play out of sorts in Game 1 before sitting out Game 2.

While it doesn't look like the any of the Mavs will be playing past the first round with the Rockets up 2-0, the team has announced that Parsons will be out for the rest of the playoffs. He could possibly have to undergo surgery to correct the issue.

If the Mavs were to challenge the 2nd seeded Rockets, Parsons would have had to play up to billing of being a coveted free agent this past offseason. Against his former team, Parsons shot just 5-15 for 10 points in Game 1.

But the hits doesn't stop there for Dallas, as according to Marc Stein of ESPN, Rajon Rondo is out indefinitely after injuring his back in Game 2. If Rondo, who has been at odds with Mavs coach Rick Carlisle, doesn't return in the series, he may well then have played his last game in a Dallas jersey. After playing 27 minutes in Game 1 and scoring 15 points with 5 assists, he played just under 10 minutes in Game 2.

"No, I don't" was Carlisle's response when asked if he thought the free agent-to-be would wear a Mavericks uniform again.

In 46 games after being traded to the Mavs back in December, he averaged 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists. He initially voiced wanting a max salary after he becomes a free agent, but it seems unlikely any team will be looking to give him anywhere near that after the past couple of seasons marked by injury and discontent.
