Dallas Cowboys NFL News, Rumors 2015: Anthony Hitchens Comments on Sunday's Bad Call

On Sunday, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens made the news for being the victim of a controversial pass interference call against him.

When Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford threw an incomplete pass to Brand Pettigrew in fourth quarter, one of the judges flagged Hitchens for pass interference. The referee announced the penalty and marked it off.

The head linesman believed that it was accidental contact, not purposeful interference, and overruled the penalty.

The tentative call made fans on both sides extremely angry. Even President Barack Obama had something to say about the penalty call. According to Fox Sports, he would have been "pretty aggravated" if the team lost an NFL playoff game because of the penalty.

Fortunately for the Cowboys, video footage reveals that Hitchens was in fact, only face-guarding.

When the ball arrives, Hitchens is looking away from the ball. He only throws his arms up and in the air after the ball accidentally slides off of the football player's left shoulder. "I just felt once the ball hit my back then I let up," Hitchens commented.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Cowboys player admitted that at the time, he didn't know whether the call was right. "Obviously not. They didn't call it, so I'm just going by what was the call on the field," Hitchens commented, "I'm just a guy who is trying to do his job," adding, "I don't make calls."

Hitchens insists that he does not hold a personal vendetta against the judge who possibly could have cost him the game. "They get paid to do their jobs, so that's that," he said.
