Dakota Johnson SNL Spoof News: Actress Featured in Controversial ISIS Skit on 'Saturday Night Live'
Dakota Johnson starred in a recent skit mocking ISIS, which was aired on "Saturday Night Live,' when Johnson co-hosted the show.
In the video, Johnson gets an emotional send-off from her father, so she can take up military duties. As the father bids farewell, he says "You be careful, okay?" The daughter replies, "Dad, it's just ISIS." The dad, teary eyed, looks at a militant and says "Take care of her." The militant replies in a whisper, "Death to America."
At the close, a joking slogan appears on screen saying "ISIS, we'll take it from here, Dad."
The video is supposedly a spoof of the commercial advertisement of Toyota Camry called "My Bold Dad," where in a father drops off his daughter at the airport so she can presumably depart for military duty.
The video comes with good intentions behind all the mockery going on. It was taken in response to the increasing number of women joining the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, a self-declared caliphate that has been branded as a terrorist organization by most countries across the world.
The social media sites, however, took a dig at the video, calling it names and expressing outrage at the spoof. Here are some of the tweets and comments that surfaced online, according to People Magazine:
"3 young girls are somewhere in Syria tonight because they got mesmerised by ISIS, family is sick with worry and you do this? #SNL #shame"
"I think the ISIS skit was over the line. Not funny, guys ... some things are not joke material. That was really, REALLY bad. #SNL"
"Proud of this. Freedom to mock is our greatest weapon. Thanks to the writers who asked not to be mentioned by name."
