Cyber Monday Deals 2014: Amazon Offers Discounts Every 10 Minutes, Online Shopping Specials For Eight Days
The frenzied holiday online-shopping during Thanksgiving and Black Friday has prompted some retailers to extend the single day event, Cyber Monday, to several days. For shoppers at Amazon.com, Cyber Monday will now be an eight-day affair.
According to The Verge, Amazon will be announcing discounts every 10 minutes during the eight-day Cyber Monday event.
Latin Post reports that Amazon has, nevertheless, promised that it will not dilute the importance of Cyber Monday on the whole and has promised to release three major deals on that day. Moreover, instead of offering a solitary 'Deal of the Day' this Monday, Amazon will offer as many as three.
Mobile users, irrespective of using iOS, Android or Fire OS, will also receive exclusive deals on Amazon's app.
According to a report in the Tech Times, the eight-day event offers numerous deals and some of them include a $300 Sony 40-inch TV, a 3D printer for $400, 50 percent off LeapFrog toys, and an Acer Chromebook for $149.
Meanwhile, the BBC reported that the craze of holiday shopping tradition in America has now also spread to the United Kingdom, and, as a result, Amazon U.K. experienced its busiest day on Black Friday.
BBC quotes, Xavier Garambois, vice-president of EU Retail, saying, "Ever since we introduced Black Friday to the U.K. in 2010, sales have increased year-on-year, but this year really has surpassed all of our expectations. The public's appetite for Black Friday has been bigger than ever, kicking off the Christmas shopping period in earnest and establishing Black Friday as a fixture on the U.K. Christmas shopping calendar."
According to the BBC, this year, Amazon sold 5.5 million items at a pace of roughly 64 items per second. This is a huge jump from the sales figures in the previous year, when the company sold more than 4.1 million items at a rate 47 purchases every second - a record at that time.
