CW TV Show Season Renewals: 'Jane the Virgin', 'The Flash', 'Arrow', 'Supernatural', & More

The CW has renewed roughly all the existing shows on the network for yet another season each with a view to ensure that all their fans remain happy. The shows that were renewed recently at during the winter pass tour of the Television Critics Association include the Golden Globe winner 'Jane the Virgin', 'Supernatural', 'Arrow', 'The Flash', 'The Originals', 'Reign' and 'The Vampire Diaries'.

According to Christian Post, while 'Jane the Virgin' and 'The Flash' have both been renewed for a second season, 'Reign' and 'The Originals' for their third seasons. At the same time, the CW has renewed the long-running hit shows 'Supernatural' and 'The Vampire Diaries' for their eleventh and seventh seasons, respectively. On that note, 'Arrow' has been renewed for its fourth season.

Making an announcement in this regard, the CW president Mark Pedowitz spoke about the decision of the network to renew most of its series so soon.

Podeowitz told the press meet, "Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience."

Adding, "By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season's storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 line-ups."

The CW also utilized the occasion to display the trailers of the networks two upcoming series titled 'iZOMBIE' and 'The Messengers'.

'iZOMBIE' is loosely based on the DC Comics' original series, starring Rose McIver as Olivia "Liv" Moore and it will premiere on March 17. On the other hand, 'The Messengers' is a sci-fi action mystery television drama featuring Shantel VanSanten, Jon Fletcher, Sofia Black-D'Elia, and JD Pardo and it will premiere on April 10.

Meanwhile, the network has yet to make a decision on the fate of one show. The CW may or may not renew 'Hart of Dixie', Podeowitz said, "We're going to look at the ratings. We'll get an opportunity to see how it plays with Jane the Virgin. If it ends, [this season is] a great series finale; if it doesn't end, it's a great season finale. But we're not committed one way or another."
