Cristiano Ronaldo Break Up Rumors: Real Madrid Football Star Splits From Russian Model?
Real Madrid football star Cristiano Ronaldo has allegedly revealed that he's splitting up with Russian model girlfriend Irina Shayk, says The Daily Mail.
Ronaldo, who attended the Ballon d'Or event in Zurich all by himself, hasn't publicly acknowledged the fact that he split up with girlfriend for four years. Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or world footballer of the year award for the second time in a row now.
On that note, there was also no mention of the Russian in the Real Madrid striker's acceptance speech, furthering confirming the rumors. The couple, however, attended the last year's Ballon d'Or event, where they seemed all happy.
The speculations about the rumors got even more widespread following the Russian supermodel stopped following Ronaldo on Twitter. Shayk has been posting pictures of a recent winter vacation on Twitter, celebrating her 29th birthday and Ronaldo seemed in all those pictures, which only confirm the split up.
Rumors suggest that the split up is because Shayk refused to attend Ronaldo's mother's 60th anniversary. A source close to Shayk was quoted in the Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha saying, "Cristiano wanted to surprise his mum and as he spent Christmas with Irina in Dubai, he had planned to be with him mum on her birthday, but Irina didn't want to go," writes the Daily Express UK.
"They had such a big row that he ended up spending New Year's Eve alone with his son. It was the straw that broke the camel's back because they had hadn't been getting on well in the last few months," added the source.
Although Shayk failed to attend the event, Ronaldo was supported by his mother and his son Cristiano Jr.
The last time Shayk spoke to the press about her relationship, she said, "I understand him perfectly well and he understands my job which is something very important to me. I love my profession and traveling, so I need my partner to understand what I'm doing," writes to The Herald.
