'Criminal Minds' Season 12 News Update, Spoilers: Series Set To Crossover with 'Beyond Borders'

Derek Morgan could be out of the scene as he is set to be replaced by a new BAU agent "Criminal Minds" season 12. Also, it is rumored that the series is set to crossover with "Beyond Borders."

"Criminal Minds" executive producer Erica Messer gave her thoughts surrounding Morgan's possible fate in the series, with rumors saying that a new BAU agent is set to replace him. In her interview with TV Guide, Messer said that they did not want a shrinking cast and they wanted to have people in the field. She also mentioned that given that the team had to go out and catch criminals of the week and those serial killers out there, it felt like they could not be an agent down this year.

For Messer, the had to be full-steam ahead, adding that she just did not know who that was or what it might be yet.

In other news, it is rumored that "Criminal Minds" season 12 could have a crossover with "Beyond Borders." According to Movie News Guide, the previous blend of the two titles generated large audience viewership, which suggests that fans and viewers were satisfied of the woven plots. Another crossover can boost viewership of "Criminal Minds" season 12 when it premieres, as per Carter Matt. As per the publication, this would be possible once "Beyond Borders" locks its premiere date.

"Criminal Minds" season 11 concluded with a huge cliffhanger, since the team learned about three new prison breaks after the interruption at the dinner at Rossi's. Peter Lewis was revealed as one of the 12 prisoners who escaped and it is now the team's task to catch them before they cause chaos.

For the time being, the release date for "Criminal Minds" season 12 is yet to be revealed.
