The new episode of "Criminal Minds" season 12 promises more gore and mystery as it hits the small screen this week.

Titled "Taboo," episode 3 will see the return of the famed Interpol agent Emily Prentiss, played by Paget Brewster.

While the official synopsis for the episode does not reveal much, it shows that the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) will welcome Emily again as they are tasked to conduct an investigation on the mysterious disappearance of three women.

Brewster last appeared as a series regular in 2012. Since then, she has returned every now and then for some episodes as a recurring character. This season, her character will return again and she can't be any more excited to reunite with her co-stars.

In her recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress shared her thoughts about her return.

"She's been running Interpol for four years and now it's just really nice to be back on the team full-time," said Brewster, referring to what her character has been up to over the years. "So far, they've made Prentiss powerful and good at the job and invested," she added.

Meanwhile, the promo video for the episode 3 reveals that the new murderer will do everything he can to make it hard for the detectives to track him down. He mutilates the bodies of his victims and covers the parts under layers of concrete to lessen the possibility for them to be found. A fast shot shows Dr. Spencer Reid saying that there are traces of chemical burns on one of the victims' body.

"Criminal Minds" season 12 airs every Wednesday, 9:00 P.M. on CBS.
