Following the unexpected departure of actor Shemar Moore in the previous episode of "Criminal Minds" season 11, fans are wondering if someone is going to step into his shoes in the series.

In the previous episode, Derek Morgan, the character played by Moore, officially left the show. In an article by Christian Post, it was revealed that the actor had decided to leave the unit so that he could spend more time with his wife and kids.

"Derek Morgan isn't walking off the show because Shemar is done with the show. Derek is walking away because there's a part of his life that is missing and he has an opportunity and he risks that every day, but he needs to be a dad and experience that and be by his wife," said The Hollywood Reporter.

In an interview with TV Line, Moore also said that he wanted to achieve some sense of balance in his life.

"I love what I do for a living. I love it from 'action' to 'cut,' but I also want to walk my dogs, travel, get married, have kids. I want balance, and it's hard to do that with the schedule we have," he said.

Meanwhile, executive producer Erica Messer confirmed that Morgan will not be replaced by anybody this season. She said that the creators of the series had decided not to introduce a new agent in the next four episodes of the season so the team could "actually move on" from the actor's departure. Also, she added that the introduction of a new character may not be a good idea for the fans, especially after the sudden decision of Morgan to leave.

"It didn't feel like the fans would fall in love with anybody new who came in under those circumstances," she said.

However, trailer for the next episode showed that Emily Prentiss will be back in the series. She will take on a new case involving an international killer and will be working together again with the characters of Joe Mantegna and Matthew Grey Gubler.

The upcoming episode of "Criminal Minds" season 11 will air on March 30 on CBS.
