'Criminal Minds' Season 10 Spoilers, Spin-Off News: 'Walking Dead' Actor Cast in New Series
Fans of the crime thriller "Criminal Minds" will be in for a huge treat when they catch the 13th episode entitled "Nelson's Sparrow."
Viewers will have their chance to see the Gideon character again in a blast from the past, although he won't be reprised by Many Patinkin, but instead actor Ben Savage. Savage will be playing the younger version of the character.
This episode is also particularly special in that one of its stars, Kirsten Vangsness lent her skills in writing it.
Check out this synopsis the network provided for the episode:
"The BAU revisits its origins when they look at one of Rossi and Gideon's old cases to track a killer that got away, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Jan. 28 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Series star Kirsten Vangsness co-wrote the episode with Erica Messer, one of the series' executive producers. Ben Savage ('Girl Meets World', 'Boy Meets World') guest stars as young Gideon, and Arye Gross ('Castle', 'Ellen') guest stars as Donnie Mallick."
The whole episode is a flashback episode so it won't necessarily mess with the current plot of the show.
Outside of the series, news on the "Criminal Minds" spin off has currently been released. Actor Tyler James Williams has been casted as the team's tech analyst.
"Williams' character is described as 'sweet and incredibly smart'. As the team's tech analyst, Monty stays at home while the team works abroad. His attention to detail and kind manner are invaluable as he liaises with the families of those in trouble and uses his tech savvy to help the team fill in the holes as they search for a killer far from home," writes Entertainment Weekly.
He's been more notably featured recently on AMC's 'The Walking Dead' and his first television series, 'Everybody Hates Chris'.
The show will be focus on a "division of the FBI that helps American citizens who find themselves in trouble abroad," according to Entertainment Weekly.
The spin-off is believed to begin shooting February of next year.
