'Criminal Minds' Season 10 Episode 19 Spoilers: Spin-Off Series Hinted in ‘Beyond Borders’ [VIDEO]
When 'Criminal Minds' returns with an all new Season 10 episode 19 titled 'Beyond Borders' at 9 pm on Wednesday, April 8, on CBS, fans will really get a feel for the new spin-off series.
According to Latin Post, earlier this year, Erica Messer, the executive producer of 'Criminal Minds,' gave the nod to start on a new series based on the hugely hit crime procedural drama television series. Nevertheless, the spin-off series will revolve around the FBI's international division and feature FBI agents who are engaged in helping American citizens in danger in foreign lands.
In fact, the upcoming episode of 'Criminal Minds' will be a backdoor pilot for the spin-off, as Rossi's unit joins hand with the new BAU squad to hunt down a killer in Barbados following the abduction of an American family on a shuttle on the Caribbean island.
The synopsis of 'Beyond Borders' says that the former 'CSI: NY' star Gary Sinise will portray the character of the head of the international BAU unit Jack Garrett. In addition to Sinise, the other members of the FBI's international unit include 'Breaking Bad' actress Anna Gunn. Buddy TV reports that while Daniel Henney will be seen as Special Ops Agent, Matthew Simmons and Tyler James Williams from 'The Walking Dead' will play the roles of tech guru Russ "Monty" Montgomery of the international unit.
In a recently released preview video on TVLine, Garret is seen saying, "Every year there's thousands of Americans aboard who are in jeopardy and there's an international division of the FBI who goes to get them beyond borders, and that's our team."
According to Garrett, he portrays the character of an FBI veteran, and he has been associated with the organization for several years. In addition, his family is also involved with the FBI.
Meanwhile, in an interview with TVGuide Erica Messer said, "We find out that this unsub eluded Jack's team two years ago. He killed a family in Aruba and it [haunts] Jack that they weren't able to catch him," adding, "Last year, he got away from the BAU when he killed a family in Florida and now this year, he's striking in Barbados, and we're gonna get these two teams together to finally catch this guy."
The official synopsis of 'Beyond Borders' posted on Carter Matt reads, "When a family of four is abducted while on vacation in Barbados, the BAU is called to assist Unit Chief Jack Garrett (Sinise) and his International Unit on their investigation. Garrett and his unit, the FBI's top division for handling cases involving Americans abroad, work jointly with Hotch and his team when they discover that this case matches one the BAU investigated last year in Florida."
