'Creed' Movie Cast News: 'Rocky' Spinoff to Star Tony Bellew, Andre Ward, Michael B. Jordan

The upcoming 'Rocky' spinoff movie, 'Creed', starring actor Michael B. Jordan is reportedly enlisting a couple of boxing champs to join its cast, including champion boxer Andre Ward and British champion boxer Tony Bellew, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The 31-year-old pugilist, Bellow, will reportedly play the role of "Pretty Ricky Porter," who is the main opponent of Jordan's character, Adonis Creed.

Creed is the grandson of Rocky Balboa's main rival, Apollo Creed, who was killed in 'Rocky IV' by Ivan Drago during an exhibition fight.

Jordan will play the role of a Creed who is being taught boxing technique by Rocky Balboa. The film will reunite Jordan with his 'Fruitvale Station' director Ryan Coogler.

Reports say that the movie will begin filming in January in Las Vegas and Philadelphia.

If the rumors are confirmed, Bellew would be following in the footsteps of Antonio Tarver, who played Mason "The Line" Dixon, in the "Rocky Balboa" movie released in 2006.

On a side note, while preparing for that role, Tarver had to gain muscle weight and some have alleged that after the movie, his real-life career was affected by the weight and he lost focus.

Meanwhile, Ward's character has not yet been revealed, although if it will be based on his career, it would be possible that he will play a broadcaster-role instead of a fighter, according to the Bad Left Hook website.

At present, Ward is a super middleweight division World Boxing Association champion. Although recently, he has been in the headlines because of his courtroom battle with his former promoter, Dan Gossen, who died in September.

Bellow, on the other hand, was a former Commonwealth league's light heavyweight champion and used to be the three-time heavyweight champion in England's Amateur Boxing Association.

On that note, Tony Bellew is scheduled for a fight on November 22 against Nathan Cleverly.
