Constantine Maroulis News: 'American Idol' Alum Arrested for Domestic Violence
Constantine Maroulis, American Idol alum and Broadway actor, was arrested and charged for domestic violence on Wednesday morning. He was taken to jail and bailed out immediately.
The call from Constantine's girlfriend Angelina Reed came in early Wednesday morning from the Wyckoff, New Jersey home they share.
She claims that she was thrown to the ground and kicked in the groin. Constantine asserts that whatever he did was done in self-defense.
An official statement about the incident has been released by Constantine's rep.In it, Constantinedenies any wrong-doing, claiming that he was protecting himself.
He claims that his girlfriend attacked him first and he adamantly denies kicking her at all. "He did not throw her to the ground or kick her in the groin during this incident," according to the statement.
"Late last night Mr. Maroulis told Angelina Reed, his live-in girlfriend and mother of their 4-year-old child, that he was leaving her because of her continued instability. She became angry and began attacking him. During the course of the attack, she hit him with her fists and threw numerous objects at him."
With prior accounts of domestic violence on Reed's part, the rep continued to say, this incident points to an act of self-defense.
He states that there is proof of this too, an injury on Maroulis' right thigh that was caused when his Reed threw something at him.
The statement goes on to assert that Constantine will seek protection for himself and his child in the courts of law.
The first order of business was a restraining order against Reed, whom he met on the production of Rock of Ages in 2008. She was a chorus girl on the show. The couple moved in together and had a girl in December 2010.
