Computer Algorithm Prediction: Successfully Predicts Top Dance Songs In 2015

Believe it or not but in recent unbelievable news, a computer algorithm gave a perfect prediction for the dance song that ended up on top in 2015. The research was conducted to know the efficiency of mathematical algorithms in hitting right.

As reported by Techtimes, research at the University of Antwerp lead by Dorien Herreman aimed to know whether by applying a dance hit that existed for 30 years since 1985 would allow the prediction of songs that could be on top of the charts for 2015 using an algorithm.

Using intelligence gathered with a software called "Echo Nest," the team was able to break down every aspect and characteristic of the engine behind apps like Spotify and iTunes. With this process and analysis, the group was able to dissect every part starting from the song's length, tempo, bass, etc.

The result suggest that dance music is more dominant than pop, as Herreman says, "Dance charts seemed to be songs in the most similar style, versus pop charts," as cited in an interview by Motherboard.

Knowing that dance music is more susceptible to be in top of the chart, the team decided to choose one music style for further study as this will enable them to gather specific data and specific result. "The hit prediction seem very good" as added by Herreman in a statement from techtime blog.

Meanwhile, the public can have an access to the copy of study as it was published in 2014's Journal of New Music Research.
