Comedy Central TV Schedule News: 'South Park' Renewed Through 2019

Comedy Central has said that it will make sure the South Park, the long time series, will make its 300 episode mark with a three season renewal deal that will keep the program on the network through 2019.

Comedy Central ordered thirty new episodes of the series which will take the show, created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, through its 23rd season.

Comedy Central says that this will make South Park cable's longest running scripted primetime series. The show's 19th season will bow on September 16th.

Alongside this, Parker and Stone's South Park Digital Studios has renewed its SVOD deal with Hulu in order to cover the additional seasons.

Doug Herzog, president of Viacom Music and Entertainment Group, which owns Comedy Central, made a statement about the move.

"Nearly two decades later, South Park today remains as important and influential as any series on any platform and has become one of the most recognizable brands to ever come out of television," said Herzog. "Through South Park Digital Studios, we will continue to aggressively expand the reach of the South Park brand by pursuing additional extensions and licensing opportunities worldwide."

Parker and Stone still direct every episode of the series, which follows a group of four boys and their friends living in the town of South Park, Colorado.

Parker and Stone also made a statement about their time working with Viacom and Comedy Central on the show.

"We love working for Doug and with everyone at Comedy Central," said Parker and Stone in a statement. "They've given us an insane level of artistic and creative freedom for almost 20 years. They walk the walk."
