Comedian Chonda Pierce Spends Christmas Heart Broken & in Tears After Husband's Death, Until Jesus Shows Up [READ POST]
Well-loved comedian Chonda Pierce suddenly lost her husband this year and took to Facebook to share how difficult her first Christmas without him was until in her moment of despair, Jesus showed up.
David, her husband of many years, suffered a heart attack, which then turned into a stroke and hemorrhage, which ultimately took him home to be with the Lord in July. Pierce was very candid throughout her tragic experience and received a flood of support.
Over the holidays along with a picture, Pierce likewise decided to share what her experience was like this Christmas without her life partner.
"Well, it wasn't pretty! But I made it through Christmas," she wrote in a Facebook post, "It was hard, I cried, I went a couple of days without a shower! I sat in the cold and had only my animals to snuggle with most of the day."
She likened her experience to the actual Christmas story stating that that was "just how Jesus came into this world."
Pierce confessed that in her time of despair, this Christmas, Jesus showed up just at the "right moment." "Miraculously, He came in the form of friends, calls and text at just about the time I thought I could not make it through another minute," she added, "He came as old friends gathered in and made more food than I could possibly eat! Girlfriends who made me laugh. And He came through the strong shoulders of my big brother who has always been there for me -- even when I'm trying to tough it out alone."
The talented comic has kept Jesus in the forefront as she learns to re-adjust to life without David. Her inspirational posts throughout the her difficult year continue to praise God.
"He came. And Jesus still arrives in the hard places, in the cold and lonely moments. Emmanuel! God IS with us, indeed!" she concluded.
David was a teacher and a writer who she loved since she was 16-years-old. Upon the death of her sweetheart, fans of Pierce immediately showed her support through a GoFundMe account to help her pay for the medical bills and funeral arrangements. In total they raised over $63,000.
Pierce is no stranger to tragedy and has always been transparent about her struggles. She has openly shared about enduring abuse, depression and the death of two sisters. She uses comedy as her outlet to heal hearts through laughter and has being doing it for more than 20 years now.
Pierce was recently named the top certified female comedian by the Recording Industry Association of America for having sold more comedy DVDs than any other comedian-secular or Christian. Please remember Pierce and her family in your prayers as they continue to heal.
