Comedian Chonda Pierce Honors Late Husband One Year After Sudden Death [READ POST]
Well-loved comedian Chonda Pierce suddenly lost her husband last year and took to Facebook to share intimate photos of the couple and declare her love for her "knight in shining armor."
David, her husband of many years, suffered a heart attack, which then turned into a stroke and hemorrhage, which ultimately took him home to be with the Lord in July of last year. Pierce was very candid throughout her tragic experience and received a flood of support.
"Today is my first anniversary without David... We would have celebrated 32 years together today," she wrote on Facebook, "The ups and downs, bumps and bruises and I still would have married him! He was my Knight in Shining Armor, my hero, my lover and my very best friend."
See the intimate family photos below:
David was a teacher and a writer who she loved since she was 16-years-old. Upon the death of her sweetheart, fans of Pierce immediately showed her support through a GoFundMe account to help her pay for the medical bills and funeral arrangements. In total they raised over $63,000.
Pierce is no stranger to tragedy and has always been transparent about her struggles. She has openly shared about enduring abuse, depression and the death of two sisters. She uses comedy as her outlet to heal hearts through laughter and has being doing it for more than 20 years now.
The Recording Industry Association of America recently named Pierce the top certified female comedian for having sold more comedy DVDs than any other comedian-secular or Christian.
Please remember Pierce and her family in your prayers as they continue to heal.
