Cleveland Cavaliers News: Irving & Love Expected to be Active at Cavs' Training Camp

The Cleveland Cavaliers suffered a slew of injuries to key players that tilted the championship landscape last season, with three of those players missing huge chunks, if not all, of their postseason run. But as reported by Chris Haynes of Northeast Ohio Media Group, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Timofey Mozgov and Anderson Varejao, all recovering from surgeries, will all be ready for the start of training camp on Sept. 29.

As noted by the report, Irving (fractured kneecap) and Love (separated shoulder) will be active during camp, but will be so on a limited basis. Haynes writes that he has been informed that Love will be cleared with no limitations before the same is done to Irving, with the team practicing utmost caution with regard to the two star's recovery.

During his Sept. 11 appearance on "Late Night with Seth Myers," Love said that he was "a month and a half away" from returning. Irving, for his part, refused to give a timetable for his return in a recent interview with the Associated Press.

The report also points out that Cavs' big men, Mozgov (knee scope) and Varejao (torn Achilles) are not expected to be restricted once camp commences, but will both be monitored closely.

Haynes reports that Mozgov passed on representing Russia this past EuroBasket 2015 to help speed up his recovery from surgery, while Varejao has been jumping and dunking on the leg he injured last December.

Irving missed portions of the Cavs' Eastern Conference Finals matchup with the Atlanta Hawks with leg issues, and ended his postseason run in Game 1 of the Finals when he fractured his kneecap.

Love started the playoffs on fire, but got tangled up with the Boston Celtics' Kelly Olynyk in Game 3 of their first round series in a collision, which separated his shoulder.
