Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Roster News: Kevin Love Expected to Return to Full-Contact Action in 7-10 Days
Injured forward Kevin Love, who recently signed a long-term deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers expects to return to the court within the next seven to 10 days, according to an ESPN report, and should be ready to face full contact in training camp.
As noted by Bleacher Report, Love underwent surgery on his dislocated shoulder, with the Cavs giving a timetable of four to six months for his recovery.
Back in July, Cavs general manager David Griffin told reporters that he expected a full roster for training camp. "None," he said when asked if he feared Love would not be ready for camp. "We think we'll have everybody healthy for camp," Griffin said, who also has Kyrie Irving recovering from his own injury, along with Anderson Varejao.
Love averaged 16.4 points and 9.7 rebounds in his first season with the Cavs. He played brilliantly in the first three games of their first round matchup with the Boston Celtics before getting hurt, and not being able to play the rest of the playoffs.
Despite his respectable numbers, Love often looked lost in the Cavs scheme of things, something Griffin thinks they'll be able to address this coming season.
"So I think we have the ability to put him at the elbow and run more than we did and do some of the things he did very well in Minnesota. And coach, and Ty Lue and those guys have already been looking at the things he did do well there and will focus on a lot of that because it does, it takes a big part of the burden off of LeBron and off of Kyrie and obviously as we head towards the end of the season, that's important."
The Cavs made it all the way to the Finals with Love sitting out all but three games in the playoffs, and lost Irving in Game 1 of the Finals.
