'Civilization 6' Release Date, News: Title Goes Beyond Predecessors; AMD, Firaxis Joining For DirectX 12 Path
Along with Christopher Tin's return for the track for Firaxis' "Civilization 6," it is revealed that the upcoming title is set to top its predecesssors. Also, AMD and Firaxis reportedly work hand in hand to apply DirectX 12 features to the game.
Covering various aspects, such as science, diplomacy, and city building, "Civilization 6" promises to surpass the achievements of its successors, according to IGN. As per the publication, the introduction of districts in the title seems to the the largest change in the games' gameplay.
In line with the establishment of districts, players have to choose their preferred district in the hexes, the hexagonal tiles of the game map. A case in point is the science district, which is a conducive area to erect future universities, libraries, and research laboratories. Another case in point is the military district, which could see military buildings and barracks in a futuristic scene.
Along with the 12 kinds of districts, Firaxis also introduced the Active Research in "Civilization 6." As per Movie News Guide, it is science aspect that allows a particular civilization to study a particular concept that is accessible to its location. For example, a civilization that has access to a coastline could study sea-faring technologies more easily than a land-based civilization.
Firaxis' "Civilization" franchise is well-known when it comes to city-building features and things are set to change for the better in this regard. It is further revealed that the upcoming title is set to see structures like city complex, as compared to various metropolises.
In other news, AMD and Firaxis have tied up to execute and apply a DirectX 12 rendering path for the title, as per Tech Report. According to the publication, this include asynchronous compute support as well as explicit multiadapter support.
The feature is further revealed to divide workloads among multiple cards without using multi-GPU settings, such as CrossFire and SLI. Thus, game performance can be enhanced by joining graphic cards from major vendors or companies under the same system.
Meanwhile, musical composer Tin is set to return for the "Civilization 6" theme. According to Eurogamer, he scored "Baba Yetu," the theme for "Civilization 4," which won a Grammy Award in 2011 for "Best Intrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists."
The next theme is entitled "Sogno di Volare (The Dream of Flight), which is set to debut at a performance next week at the Cadogan Hall in London.
"Civilization 6" is set to arrive on Oct. 21.
