‘Civilization 6’ Release Date, News: Exec Promises The Dynamic Title In Franchise Ever

Part of the charm (or frustration) of the franchise is how each initial decision can have a major repercussion later on. Now, Firaxis senior producer Dennis Shirk shared the news about taking dynamism to a whole new level in "Civilization 6" by unstacking the cities.

What that means is that the developer distributed the districts in the world map, and the decision to choose where to build the city has never been as important as it is now. Unlike in previous installments, where you just build the city according to the resources available, the player will really have to think hard even before he or she starts.

"By unstacking the cities, what [we're] able to do is make you think about where you're putting down your settlement," he told Gamespot.

He also said that they've managed to strike a balance in the game now, where the lack of mountains is offset by the generous amount of fresh water available. That makes the game more challenging and interesting, unlike before where the players just build and build.

Players can also mod "Civilization 6" where they can choose whether to exclude mayhem in their settings. With that, they can just build their cities without any fear of being destroyed by raiding armies.

Alex Donaldson, in a news review for VG247, said that the introduction of districts could be a game-changer for "Civilization 6."

"Under the hood this is the same game of Civ, but the addition of districts appears to be a clever idea designed to make players think about their choices more," he wrote.

News reports have confirmed the release date for "Civilization 6" to be on Oct. 21, 2016 on PC.
